Teen Pregancy

Here at SEHS there have been different situations from teen pregnancy. According to a freshman here at SEHS named Montserrat Hernandez gives her opinions teen pregnancy. “How many teens do you think that in the past 4 years of school have been pregnant”? Montserrat says “I believe that in the past 4 years of school, more than 5,000 students have ended up being pregnant.” Montserrat says “My friend’s friend is pregnant and has dropped out of high school.
“Facing an unplanned teen pregnancy can really suck because you drop out of high school and you find it difficult to raise a baby at such a young age.” said Selena Sanchez a freshman at SEHS. When you end up pregnant, you can end up loosing your friend and you might not even get the chance to graduate and go to a good college. The signs of being pregnant are missed periods, nausea or vomiting or changes in appetite. Also there are effects of being pregnant at such a young age. Some teen moms can end up smoking or drinking because they are pregnant and have effect on the baby. Also in reality there are certain teen moms that either gives their babies for adoption or they have and abortion. The rate for teenagers to end up pregnant in the United States is about 56%.
Teenage mothers can face higher risks than older mother. During pregnancy they are more likely to vulnerable to having toxemia, anemia, and preeclampsia and could also go into labor really early or face long labor. Some teen mothers have the risk of ending up giving birth to a low-weight baby or a premature baby. One of the most immediate effects of teen pregnancy is how the growing baby changes a teenage mother’s body as well as their lifestyle. A teen’s body immediately begins the process of carrying a child and preparing for childbirth and needs to consider the effect that her physical activities may have on her developing a baby. A variety of activities common to teens may have a negative effect on her baby. Like for example, they can be drinking alcohol beverages, smoking weed or cigarettes, and sleeping a lot.
It is very important that teens take this very seriously because they can end up ruining their life and not reach their goals in the future. Teens should think about the consequences before they do their actions. In that way maybe the percentage of teen pregnancy and abortion might decrease over the years. People should consider this as a very serious problem, and find ways to help those who are pregnant.
